About the App

Memory Support App is designed to help people with dementia recognize and remember their family members and caregivers. The app displays a simple grid of photos, and tapping on any photo plays a short introduction video.

Getting Started

  1. Set up the app: Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner
  2. Create a PIN: Choose a 4-digit PIN to protect the settings
  3. Add people: Tap any slot to add a photo and video
  4. Record videos: Record short introduction messages like "Hi Mom, it's Sarah, your daughter"
  5. Save and exit: Tap "Done" when finished
Tip: Keep videos short (10-30 seconds) and have the person speak clearly while looking at the camera.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a person?

Tap the gear icon, enter your PIN, then tap any empty slot. You can choose a photo from your library or take a new one, then add a video introduction.

I forgot my PIN. What do I do?

On the PIN entry screen, tap "Forgot PIN?" at the bottom. This will reset your PIN (your photos and videos will be kept). You'll need to create a new PIN.

Does my data sync to other devices?

Yes, if you have iCloud enabled on your device, your photos and videos will automatically sync to your other Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account.

How do I delete all my data?

Go to Settings (gear icon), enter your PIN, scroll to the bottom, and tap "Delete All Data". This will permanently remove all photos, videos, and your PIN.

Why won't my video play?

Make sure the video was saved correctly. Try removing and re-adding the video. If the problem persists, try restarting the app.

Can multiple caregivers use the app?

Yes! Share the PIN with trusted caregivers so they can update photos and videos. If you enable iCloud sync, changes will appear on all devices.

Troubleshooting

The app is running slowly

Try closing other apps and restarting your device. If videos are very large, consider recording shorter clips.

Videos aren't syncing to my other device

Check that both devices are signed into the same iCloud account and have iCloud Drive enabled. Large videos may take time to upload on slower connections.

I see "No iCloud account" error

Go to your device Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud and make sure you're signed in. The app will still work locally without iCloud.

Important: Always keep a backup of important photos and videos in your Photos app, as deleting data from Memory Support App is permanent.
